Wood
Wood is one of the most honest and enduring materials we work with. Each piece in our collection is handcrafted from solid hardwoods like teak, suar, walnut, or mahogany — carefully selected for their natural strength, beauty, and ethical origin. We source our wood from responsibly managed forests and plantations, many of which carry international certifications such as FSC® (Forest Stewardship Council) or SVLK (Indonesia’s Timber Legality Assurance System).
These certifications ensure not only sustainable harvesting and replanting practices, but also fair working conditions and environmental responsibility throughout the supply chain.
Because our wooden pieces are handcrafted from natural timber, subtle variations in tone, texture, and shape may occur. These details are not flaws but reflections of the tree’s life and the artisan’s touch — adding to the uniqueness of every creation.
Teak
Teak is a tropical hardwood prized for its high oil content, strength, and weather resistance. These qualities make it ideal for outdoor and indoor furniture. Teak naturally resists moisture and pests, and it develops a graceful silvery-grey patina if left untreated.
- Uses: Outdoor patio chairs, garden benches, teak tables, indoor furniture and flooring or countertops (valued for durability and water resistance).
- Care: Wipe regularly with a damp cloth. To preserve teak’s warm golden hue, apply natural teak oil once or twice a year. If left untreated, teak will develop a silver-grey patina. Avoid harsh chemicals or pressure washing. Suitable for covered outdoor use; store indoors or under shelter during harsh weather.
Walnut
Walnut is a fine-grained, dark-brown hardwood that polishes to a smooth finish. Its rich chocolate-colored heartwood (bordered by pale sapwood) makes for elegant furniture. Walnut’s hardness and even grain are prized in high-quality pieces.
- Uses: Sophisticated dining tables, chairs, desk tops, and shelves (walnut’s striking color and grain are perfect for statement pieces).
- Care: Dust with a soft cloth; clean with a slightly damp cloth when needed. Avoid prolonged sunlight (to prevent fading) and extreme dryness. Polish occasionally with natural oil or wax to maintain its luster and prevent the wood from drying out.
Suar
Suar (jackfruit wood) is a sustainable tropical hardwood with dramatic grain patterns. Its color ranges from pale yellow to deep brown, and it is naturally hard and durable. Suar is prized for tabletops and slabs. Importantly, suar comes from well-managed forests in Indonesia and Malaysia, where trees are replaced after harvest.
- Uses: Live-edge tables, benches, stools and cabinet faces (showcasing bold grain patterns and color variations).
- Care: Treat like other hardwoods: dust or wipe gently. Since suar is water-resistant, you can leave it raw or seal it. To maintain its color, wipe spills immediately and apply natural wood oil once a year. Avoid letting it sit in standing water or extreme humidity.
Mahogany
Mahogany is a classic reddish-brown hardwood traditionally used in fine furniture. It’s strong and ages beautifully, mellowing to a warm patina. Mahogany’s uniform grain and rich color give pieces timeless elegance.
- Uses: Cabinets, dining tables, chairs, carved furniture (suitable for both classic and modern interiors).
- Care: Wipe spills immediately, clean with a soft dry or slightly damp cloth. Use a beeswax or natural polish occasionally to nourish the leather-like surface. Keep mahogany pieces out of direct heat or strong sunlight to prevent cracking and fading.
